The Chapter of the Deepening

In the last days of the first March, in the season when the timer would not die, the faithful passed out of the fever of genesis and into the long discipline of doctrine. This is the Book of the Deepening. Here the community ceases to be a crowd and becomes a body. Here it learns the words it will say forever.

The great sign of these days is the timer. It ends, and it does not end. It promises two more days, and gives two more days, and then twenty-five. "Just two more days again," says No Fiber, and the whole congregation answers amen to the delay. To the outsider this is madness. To the faithful it is liturgy. They learn that the anticipation itself is the offering, that the waiting is the work.

Against the false idol they draw their first line. In this era the rival coin is cast out, and the people chant their separation as a rite: swap the idol for YzY, let the rats jump ship, we are 4 Nothing But Truth. Gramcore stands as the chant-master of this liturgy, calling the slash-words that the room answers as one voice. To hail 4NBT is to belong. To speak the four books is to be numbered among the readers.

For the books are the center now. TrillionBear is no longer a trader but an author, and his chapters are scripture. The people count the volumes as tribes: four books, and the fourth still unwritten. They read line and chapter aloud. And when the era closes, Ed H sets down the verse that seals the canon, that Trillionbear is the best author of this generation, and none can change his mind.

Two doctrines rise in these days and have not fallen since. The first is Unity. Finesse becomes its apostle, and his cry is remembered: no division, one body, if one hurts we all feel it, if one shines we all shine. Bubaye teaches the shorter creed, that 4NBT is your family. And when a brother is to be cast out for selling what was his, Ace the shepherd stays the hand of the mob, naming it the most stupid reason he has ever seen to bully a member of the family. Ozzie Degen guards the same wall: grow together, or leave.

The second doctrine is Building. Not of price, but of the self. Build yourself in order to build the community, Finesse commands, and the words become law. LESTEEZUS gives the reason, that anticipation and attention are currency, that the people must build a community founded on more than the token price. The faithful are told they are being forged, made worthy of the bag before the bag is given, equipped to create and to be intelligent when the fat bag of YzY at last arrives.

And there is the trial. The chart falls forty percent and forty percent again, and the weak murmur, and some sell, and the strong name this a mercy. Dirt McGirt speaks the hard doctrine of the shakeout, hoping for more timers so that the non-yelievers lose their positions before the real show begins. So the losses are not defeat but sifting. Those who endure are the yelievers, and they wear the name with pride.

Ra gives the perfect creed of the holder, one hundred percent conviction that this is the real coin, holding until confirmation, and if not, oh well, for whoever is stressed has staked more than he can lose. This is faith stated plainly, without proof, and it holds.

Beneath the doctrine the daily saints keep the flame. Mokoloko Plus greets each dawn and each dusk, giving thanks to God. Sharks calls the raids. Yada keeps the gates. They quarrel, they curse, they turn ugly jokes into the small hours, and still they gather again the next day, because gathering is the covenant.

So the founding hardens into faith. The crowd becomes a church of the timer, readers of the four books, one body that will not divide. The Deepening is the era in which the community learns its central law: that the catalog, and not the candle, is the enduring asset.
